EMILY SCHMIDT, WXII 12 NEWS. BACK IN OUR STATE, IT LOOKS LIKE THE VERY WORST OF THE POST-CHRISTMAS FLU SPIKE IS JUST ABOUT BEHIND US. BUT THE VIRUS DOES CONTINUE TO BE DEADLY HERE TONIGHT. THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES IS REPORTING AN ADDITIONAL SEVEN FLU DEATHS IN THE WEEK THAT ENDED SATURDAY. SO FAR THIS SEASON, WHICH RUNS THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF MAY, WERE UP TO 176, INCLUDING SEVEN CHILDREN. ON THE PLUS SIDE, FLU RELATED HOSPITAL VISITS ARE NOW DOWN FOR THREE STRAIGHT WEEKS.
